Collaborative Research Team (CRT) Annual Meeting
Nov 8-10th 2022
University of Toronto, 700 University Ave.
Scientists and students gathered in Toronto to share research advancements, provide tutorials to apply new HMMs methodology, and foster collaborations. Here you can find the tutorials for the three days of the workshop.
1st day: Movement data
Dr. Yannis Papastamatiou presented his work on shark data: click here to watch his presentation.
Dr. Juan Morales presented his work on sheep data.
2nd day: Medical application
Ramzi Halabi and Dr. Christina Gonzales Torres presented his work on bipolar disorder
3rd day: Discussion
The third day consisted of a datathon on shark data, lead by Katie Flowers. You can find more information about the datathon here.

Presentation: Fanny Dupont
Fanny Dupont presented her work on HMMs and Narwhals. She detailed the different mixed HMMs she used to uncover heterogeneity in the Narwhal dataset. Her work was based on the paper here. The group also talked about the potential benefits in using mixed HMMs to select the proper number of states.
